  8. This README  file describes the features  of The Golf Scorekeeper
  9. and also  contains an index of  the files that should  be on your
  10. distribution disk.

  12. The features of The Golf Scorekeeper v2.0 are:

  14.         * Unlimited  number  of  players  can  be defined to the
  15.           system.
  16.  
  17.         * Unlimited number of courses can be defined.
  18.  
  19.         * Player history reports - Full history or By course
  20.  
  21.         * Team definition and scorekeeping
  22.  
  23.         * Player ranking reports
  24.  
  25.         * Course ranking reports
  26.  
  27.         * Foursome & Fivesome report generator
  28.  
  29.         * All players and courses maintained in RAM for fast
  30.           access when building reports
  31.  
  32.         * All players and courses "shadowed" on disk in case of
  33.           unexpected power loss
  34.  
  35.         * Pull-down menuing system
  36.  
  37.         * Hot keys for special functions

  39.         * Context sensitive help (like having an online manual)

  43. These features are discussed in detail in the user's manual.

  45. If you want to get started fast  there is a section in the user's
  46. manual  titled  "Getting  Started,  Fast".  This  is  a  one page
  47. description  of how  to get  started without  reading the  entire
  48. manual.

  50. The  following is  a list  of the  files that  should be  on your
  51. distribution disk:

  53.         1. GOLFSKOR.EXE         This is the executable program.
  54.  
  55.         2. GOLFSKOR.HLP         The internal help file used by
  56.                                 the program's context sensitive
  57.                                 help feature.
  58.  
  59.         3. GOLFSKOR.DOC         The Golf Scorekeeper user's manual
  60.                                 (20 Pages long) This should print
  61.                                 to  any  printer  using  the  DOS
  62.                                 print  command.  (You  might have
  63.                                 some problems on laser printers.)
  64.  
  65.         4. REGISTER.FRM         The form used for registering the
  66.                                 software. (Read the "Registration
  67.                                 Information" section of the user's
  68.                                 manual for more info)

  70.         5. README               This file.

  72.          ************ System Requirements **************
  73.  
  74. The Golf Scorekeeper will run on any IBM PC or compatible. You
  75. will need at least 256K of RAM and DOS 2.0 or higher. The system
  76. will run off of a floppy but will be somewhat slower. The same is
  77. true for some CGA monitors when you have to use snow control.
  78. 256K of RAM is a minimum, it is best if you have more. This is
  79. because The Golf Scorekeeper keeps all player and course data in
  80. memory and with only 256K you are limited to a combination of
  81. roughly 250 courses and players. If you use a mouse just load in
  82. the generic driver that comes with your particular mouse.

  84. The only known problem with hardware is the IBM 8514 monitor. If
  85. you run the program on this monitor you might not get anything on
  86. the screen. I am however, looking into this problem and hope to
  87. have a solution soon.

  92. Version 1.0 was the original version of The Golf Scorekeeper.

  94. Version 1.01 -
  95.         Fixed the automatic generation  of player numbers so that
  96.         old numbers could be reused.
  97.  
  98. Version 1.1 -
  99.         Added  the  Min  and  Max   points  caps  to  the  Points
  100.         Equivalents option off of the Set-up menu.
  101.  
  102.         Added the 8 special hot key functions, 4 regular "F" keys
  103.         and 4 <ALT> "F" keys. Press and hold the <ALT> key to see
  104.         the <ALT> functions.

  106. Version 1.2 -
  107.         Changed  the  functionality  of  Change  Player Status to
  108.         Change Player Info.
  109.  
  110.         Fixed the input fields on the player definition screen so
  111.         that  they would  automatically  put  the input  in mixed
  112.         case.
  113.  
  114. Version 1.3 -
  115.         Added the  cutoff date to the  team scores report option.
  116.         This  will insure  that only  the latest  scores are used
  117.         when generating the team scores report.
  118.  
  119. Version 2.0 -
  120.         Fixed the team scores report  so that the relative points
  121.         calculation used the points  that the player was shooting
  122.         for  when the  latest score  was entered  and not the new
  123.         adjusted points.  This change required  a modification of
  124.         the players record thus making older version GLFMEMBR.DAT
  125.         files incompatible with this version.

  130. The file GLFMEMBR.DAT  created by a version prior  to Version 2.0
  131. will  not be  compatible with  Version 2.0.  If you  are using  a
  132. version of  The Golf Scorekeeper  that is less  than 2.0 you  can
  133. convert your files with a conversion utility that is available to
  134. all registered users.
